First Grade

Grade One Class Teacher for 2012-2013
Aug 23 2011 | Upper Valley Waldorf School | Quechee, Vermont
First Grade Teaching Position Opening for Fall 2012
The Upper Valley Waldorf School, located in Quechee, VT, is seeking a fully trained Waldorf class teacher to take our First Grade class for the fall of 2012.
We are a Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade school with a current enrollment of 160 for the 2011-2012 school year. We offer a rich Waldorf curriculum, which includes two foreign languages (French and German), woodworking, handwork, movement, instrumental and orchestral music and chorus. The Upper Valley Waldorf School is in the process of enhancing our Middle School program to enable us to meet more closely the needs of the developing middle school student. Our upper grades are supported by art and seasonal athletics in addition to the full subjects. All of our full-time faculty members are Waldorf trained teachers and represent a rich spectrum of life experiences along with their strength as Waldorf educators. Our school is a developing member of AWSNA. There are five older Waldorf schools within two hours drive, as well as the New England Waldorf Teachers Training Program at Antioch in Keene, NH, and the newly relocated Rudolf Steiner Institute in Easton, MA, all of which provide ample opportunity for continuing education, conferences and cultural events.
The Upper Valley is a vibrant community located in the hills, villages and towns which border the Connecticut River, nestled between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There are well established, cooperative food markets, farmer’s markets, local organic bakeries and farms. The award-winning Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is a major employer. Dartmouth College and numerous local organizations provide a rich variety of arts, lectures and workshops, many of which employ the talents of local community members. This cultural richness, combined with the rural setting, make the Upper Valley a unique and bountiful place. The quiet beauty of the natural environment offers contemplative pastimes and a full range of outdoor recreation. World-class ski areas, plus extensive cross country ski trail systems, the Appalachian Trail and extensive backcountry hut systems make this a paradise for the skiing and hiking enthusiast. Balancing this, we are just two hours from Boston, four from Montreal and five from New York City.
The parent body is supportive, well informed and involved. Our Board is strong and enjoys a supportive, collaborative relationship with the Faculty. We have a developed administrative function with an Administrative Director, Admissions Director, Development Director, Finance & Human Resources Director, Office Manager and Facilities Manager. Our School has a strong culture of community spirit and collaboration.
Salary: Base $36,146 plus applicable experience. Full benefits package includes Professional Development support, Medical and Dental Insurance plans, Short & Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, TIAA-CREF Retirement Plan, and access to a Flexible Savings Account.
