Pedagogical Administrator
Oct 14 2011 | Vancouver Waldorf School | North Vancouver, BC
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Pedagogical Administrator at the Vancouver Waldorf School, beginning July 1st 2011. This is an existing position for our school. The qualified candidate must have current BC certified teaching credentials and experience as a Waldorf teacher, and previous successful leadership experience in a Waldorf context. He/she will possess relevant work experience with a demonstrated track record in working with Faculty, a Board of Trustees and an Administrative Group.
The successful candidate will guide both faculty and staff in the implementation of organizational change; balance competing demands and satisfy the conflicting needs of a multi-client based constituency. The Pedagogical Administrator inspires a culture of collaborative initiative and ensures that the faculty addresses matters of prime importance necessary for the effective functioning and the overall health of the school.
The primary responsibilities of the Pedagogical Administrator are broadly captured under four areas, with the focus shifting between these areas as the leadership structure changes and strategic organizational needs evolve.
These four areas are:
• Pedagogical Development / Support of Faculty
• Administration & Governance
• Parental Liaison
• Board of Trustee Liaison
A full job description is available for review at www.vws.ca/school/ourSchoolEmploy.html.
The Vancouver Waldorf School was established in 1971 and offers programs from Parent and Tot through to twelfth grade.
Our school operates with a three-fold governance structure, which includes a Pedagogical Carrying Group and sub-committees that effectively empowers faculty to participate in the running of the school, a Board of Trustees with fiduciary responsibility, and a growing community and resource development department. The school’s operations are managed by a team of three administrators – the Pedagogical Administrator, the Business Administrator, and the Development Administrator. We also have an active Parent Council that serves as a portal for parent participation in school life.
Waldorf education has been growing steadily in the Pacific Northwest of North America, and the Vancouver Waldorf School is one of several Waldorf schools in the region. This provides many opportunities for personal growth for faculty and staff, deepening their education through workshops, lectures and conferences.
Vancouver is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is considered one of the best places to live. The temperate climate combined with a unique location by the Pacific Ocean and Coastal Mountain Range provides year-round activities such as skiing, hiking, sailing and biking. Vancouver is also a well-known multi-cultural centre with many art galleries, museums, theatres, restaurants, colleges and universities.
Our comprehensive benefit package includes extended medical and dental coverage, short and long term disability, Professional Development opportunities and relocation assistance. Tuition remission is available for children accepted into the school.
Please email resume to hrc@vws.ca or fax (604)985-4948.
