Green Meadow, founded in 1950, enjoys full enrollment, presently serving 365 children from nursery-kindergarten through grade 12. Green Meadow is a full member in the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and the High School is accredited with the New York State Association of Independent Schools.

The school is situated in the Threefold Community, being part of the Threefold Foundation. The immediate surroundings of the school belie the fact that the school is located in the suburbs. We have woods with paths for walking and a pond for swimming and skating. Thirty-five miles northwest of New York City, we are also close to Harriman State Park, the Hudson River, and the Ramapo Mountains. The school is within walking distance of a number of anthroposophically-related initiatives, including: Sunbridge Institute, a center offering Waldorf Teacher Training, arts program, weekend workshops and conferences; Eurythmy Spring Valley; the Fellowship Community which provides community-based care for the elderly; Weleda N.A.; and the Hungry Hollow Natural Foods Co-op. There is a Christian Community chapel in the area, and a biodynamic gardening training as a collaboration through Sunbridge and Threefold. There is the possibility of housing within the community for Green Meadow employees, allowing life here to be quite cohesive, especially for families.
