First Grade

FIRST GRADE CLASS TEACHER
Oct 28 2011 | The Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School | Great Barrington MA
We are a thriving 40 year-old Waldorf school located on twenty acres of open and wooded land bordering the Green River in Western Massachusetts. Over 200 students from preschool through 8th grade are taught in large classrooms, handwork and woodwork studios, a science room and a spacious auditorium. Basketball and handball courts and open playing fields surround the school buildings. The old barn where the school began is now a 1,000 square foot school library.
Our curriculum includes German, Spanish, handwork, woodwork, music, eurythmy, an educational support program and physical education. Festivals and celebrations are community-oriented. Our Board is active and well-established and our strong PA reflects a supportive and diverse parent body. The school is a full member of AWSNA, as well as of the Association of Independent Schools of New England. An active anthroposophical branch and First Class are in the area.
Located midway between New York City and Boston, the Berkshires are well known for cultural and artistic communities, offering theater, music, dance and museums. Tanglewood, the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Jacob's Pillow and folk and bluegrass festivals are just some of our famous local attractions. Skiing, skating and other seasonal sports are popular in winter; visitors come from all over the world in the summer to swim in and boat on our crystalline lakes and rivers and to hike and camp on the Appalachian and other trails.
Salary for the position is commensurate with experience; benefits include health insurance, life insurance, pension fund, tuition remission and sabbatical leave.
Applications Should Be Submitted by December 12, 2011
