Morning Homeschool Teacher Sought
Nov 01 2011 | Homeschool | Los Angeles, CA
Hello there,
We are the parents of three daughters, living and working in Los Angeles. For the past several years we have been homeschooling my two older daughters, who are 9 and 7. We have been following a secular eclectic approach, but are increasingly drawn to the Waldorf method. We are not Christians: we respect anthroposophy but don't follow it ourselves. Our educational approach is strictly secular.
We have a regular rhythm and structure in our day: In the mornings I work, my older kids have a teacher come to 'do school' and my littler one goes to preschool. In the afternoons we hang out as a family, lark around in the garden, and do random activities. Our house is full of animals and a total mess, but that's because we actually live in it.
We are looking for a Waldorf-inspired (at least) teacher who is interested in working M-F, 8.30 to 12.30, with an additional 5 hours a week for preparation of materials etc. We pay $25 an hour, so that's 25 hours a week, or $625 a week. You would be an independent contractor, not an employee, so no health benefits or anything, I'm afraid. However, we are able to be very flexible and human about the whole thing, so in the past the job has worked well for other parents, for example, who want to be around for their own kids after school. I can go into exhaustive (and possibly exhausting) detail about the kids etc as we go along. Please send a resume and cover letter by email to abbi@amplecat.com
Thanks!
