My name is Victoria Swany, and I'm a 22 year old graduate of Ursinus College with a Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology and Honors in Education (with minors in Neuroscience and Elementary Education). I am currently working for City Year, an Americorps program through which I primarily work in a 7th grade classroom tutoring and coaching. I also write lesson plans for and run after school programs as well as participate in professional, leadership development and community service. Additionally, I volunteer as a group leader for our City Heroes program; I lead a group of high schoolers in community service and discussions about issues such as poverty, hunger, racism, and other societal afflictions. I will graduate from City Year in early June, and I know that working as a grades assistant will be the perfect opportunity for me. I aspire to obtain my Waldorf certification in the near future and to work as a class teacher. I am passionate about providing our nation's youth with quality education, and I ultimately hope to play an integral role in public school reform.
