Qualifications. The Board of Directors is dedicated to the service of children and families; committed to learning about anthroposophy, Waldorf education, and Rudolf Steiner’s insights into the evolution of humanity as these apply to our purpose. This person must be highly competent in the skill and experience necessary for the management of the business, property, and affairs of our non-profit organization.

The Chief Financial Officer/ Treasurer has oversight of the School Administrator as that employee takes responsibility of the financial records, investments, and other evidences of school properties and assets. The Treasurer ensures that the School Administrator keeps regular books of account for the Corporation that set out business transactions of the Corporation, such books to be at all times open to inspection at their place of keeping to any Board member. The Treasurer is the chair of the Financial Committee, which prepares an annual budget, in conjunction with the Executive Director and the School Administrator, for the consideration and approval of the Board of Directors. The Treasurer ensures that the School Administrator deposits all moneys and other valuables in the name and to the credit of the Corporation. The Treasurer presents to the Board of Directors and the members of the school community, at the annual meeting, statements evidencing the current financial condition of the Corporation. The Treasurer shall ensure that the School Administrator establishes a system of adequate financial recording showing quarterly income, expenditures, and balance and, at the first meeting following the end of each quarter, submits to the Board of Directors a detailed written financial report in compliance with the California statutes and regulations relating to public non-profit charitable corporations. The Treasurer, as chair of the Finance Committee, annually recommends an auditing firm to be hired by the Board of Directors to review the books of the Corporation and provide a report on them to the Board of Directors.

Regular Board meetings are held monthly September through June. Special meetings may be held at any time when called for by the Board Chair or a majority of Board members. An annual Board planning meeting will be held in January; an annual general meeting will be held once a year to inform parents and friends of the school and art center of the status of the school and center and to update them on the long-range plan.
