Shining Mountain Waldorf School, located in Boulder, Colorado, seeks an experienced Educational Support Director. Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree or other advanced degrees who have completed or are currently completing Waldorf Remedial Training. Those without Waldorf training who have some experience in Waldorf education, and a strong resume of professional work with and assessment of students with learning differences may be considered, as well as candidates with a comparably strong background in a non-Waldorf school setting. Primary duties include:

• Observations, class-wide work and individual Extra Lesson work for Early Childhood, and First, Second and Third Grade students
• Screenings for rising First Graders to be shared with the First Grade Readiness Task Group
• Screenings for Second or Third Graders including a written report for teacher and parents
• Extra Lesson and tutorial sessions as needed for students in Grade Four and above
• Support of the admissions process by meeting with and assessing students who are applying for enrollment
• Classroom observations and reports as requested by teachers for students or classes of concern
• Attendance at all Educational Support Circle meetings concerning academic issues
• Collaborative and co-operative work with tutors providing services to SMWS students

The Shining Mountain Waldorf School is a Pre-Kindergarten -12 School with a current enrollment of 310 for the 2011-2012 school year. We offer a rich Waldorf curriculum, which includes two foreign languages (Spanish and German), woodworking, handwork, movement, instrumental and orchestral music and chorus. All of our full-time faculty members are Waldorf trained teachers and represent a rich spectrum of life experiences along with their strength as Waldorf educators. Our school is a member of AWSNA. There are several other Waldorf and Waldorf-inspired charter schools within a couple hours’ drive.

Boulder is located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, about an hour’s drive from Denver. It is at the heart of the organic food industry, with an award-winning farmers’ market, and many local organic bakeries and farms. The University of Colorado and numerous local organizations provide a rich variety of arts, lectures and workshops, many of which employ the talents of local community members. The quiet beauty of the natural environment offers contemplative pastimes and a full range of outdoor recreation, including world-class ski areas, and many national parks and forests.

The parent body is supportive, well informed and involved. Our Board is strong and enjoys a supportive, collaborative relationship with the Faculty. We have a developed administrative function with a School Director, Admissions Director, Development Director, Business Manager, Office Managers and Facilities Manager.

Salary: Current Base $38,616 for 100% FTE positions, plus applicable years of experience increases. SMWS offers a comprehensive benefits package.
