Math, Chemistry & Biology Teacher/s
Jan 02 2012 | Green Meadow Waldorf School | Rockland County, NY
Green Meadow Waldorf School is seeking one to two high school/middle school teachers (at least one of the positions should be full-time) for the 2012-2013 school year. We are seeking teachers skilled, and preferably experienced, in any combination of two of the following three subjects: mathematics, biology, and chemistry. The final position will be shaped to balance the applicant's skill set and the school's developing needs.
Applicants should have a sound background in and be prepared to teach any two of the following:
Mathematics at the middle school and/or high school level,
Biology at the high school level, with a limited amount of middle school teaching also possible
Chemistry at the high school level, with a limited amount of middle school teaching also possible.
Applicants should have an interest in and preferably some previous understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and its background in anthroposophy; the school also supports teachers' pedagogical development through course work at established seminars and teaching colleges. We are looking for a colleague who will participate whole-heartedly in the life of the school, and has an understanding of child development, a love of working with adolescents, a passion for the subject, and a highly developed sense of humor.
The successful applicant will be joining a vibrant faculty, and be able to partake of the benefits of an established anthroposophical community in suburban New York, less than one hour from NYC. Our school, now in its sixties, contains an enlivening mix of seasoned, maturing, and novice teachers. We support professional development and offer an excellent salary and benefits program and an established mentoring process. Our average high school population is 85 students, and the overall enrollment of the NK-12th is around 350. Our school is accredited by AWSNA and NYSAIS.
If you are interested, please email your resume and a letter of introduction with a short autobiography to Tari Steinrueck, Administrator (tsteinrueck@gmws.org). We are especially interested in your Waldorf training, your experiences, and your connection to Anthroposophy.
