Grades Teachers 2012-2013
Jan 04 2012 | Portland Village School | Portland, OR
The Portland Village School is a public charter K-8 school that opened in North Portland in September 2007. It adapts Waldorf educational methods to public education, grounded in the tradition of successful Waldorf-methods public schools in Oregon and around the US.
The Portland Village School provides a developmentally appropriate, arts-integrated educational program designed to promote the growth and development of the whole child. The school fosters the intellect, nurtures the imagination, and recognizes the emotional life of each child. Its staff strives to create a community that cultivates respect for self and for the broader community. Our aim is to inspire children to live engaged and successful lives, prepared to meet the demands of their world.
The school is located at 7654 North Delaware Avenue, Portland, OR, 97217 . It serves a diverse population that might not otherwise have access to a Waldorf-inspired curriculum. Approximately 38% of our 360 students are eligible for free/reduced cost lunch. Next year, we will be double-tracked Kindergarten through 6th grade and single-tracked in 7th and 8th grade.
