Jan 11 2012 | Hartsbrook School | Hadley, ma.

The Hartsbrook School
is seeking applicants for
SECOND GRADE CLASS TEACHER FOR 2012-2013
We are seeking candidates with Waldorf teacher training, a Bachelor’s degree, and teaching experience for this full-time position.

The Hartsbrook School was founded in 1981 with five pre-school students in a little farmhouse. We now have 260 students on our main campus with programming from Parent-Infant classes to Grade 12.

The main campus has twenty open rolling acres of land with a view of the Holyoke Mountains. The two kindergartens are in the Homestead, alongside barns for goats, sheep and chickens, a garden classroom and a small garden. The elementary school, along with the main office, is housed in Hartsbrook Hall. The high school is housed in Piening Hall. Our faculty numbers around 50, with 7 staff members and an active and supportive Board of Directors. In September of 2002 we started a high school with a ninth grade class, and we currently have 37 students in grades 9--12. In September of 2008 we added a full time Director of Land Stewardship to our faculty.

Our school has been a full member of AWSNA since 1988. We have an active Branch of the Anthroposophical Society with several study groups, and the First Class of the School of Spiritual Science meets regularly. There is a biodynamic farm in the area.

We are situated in the middle of the five-college area of the pastoral Pioneer Valley, which offers many world-class cultural events, restaurants, movies, galleries and boutiques, dancing, music and theatre. The rural town of Hadley is located between Amherst and Northampton (recently named the small town arts capitol of the United States). We are a two-hour drive from Boston, a three-hour drive from New York City, and one hour from Vermont. For more information, please check out our website: www.hartsbrook.org. where you can also view a video about the school.

Salary: Our current range is $27,500 to $43,000 based on prior teaching experience.

Benefits: 75%% Employer contribution to cost of HMO medical coverage and basic dental insurance, retirement 403(B) plan after the first year, short- and long-term disability insurance, cafeteria plan and up to 90% tuition remission.
We encourage candidates to send a letter of interest, resume and the names of three references to employment@hartsbrook.org as soon as possible. We will accept applications on a rolling basis.
