GRADE ONE TEACHER
The Westside Waldorf School in Pacific Palisades, California, announces the opening for a Grade One Teacher for the 2012/2013 school year. The School’s main campus is nestled between the Pacific Palisades Mountain Canyon and the Pacific Ocean in the preferred mild California climate zone. In addition to the main campus the school operates an Early Childhood Center in Santa Monica.
The School has become a force for Waldorf Education in the West L.A. community hosting small and large events and featuring notable speakers from within and outside of the Waldorf Community. In the Fall of 2011, AWSNA invited the Westside Waldorf School to embark on the path towards AWSNA full membership and accreditation. WWS’ Early Childhood Center has been a full member with WECAN since 2010.
The Westside Waldorf Educational Community is made up of families, teachers and staff members with a wide variety of life experiences and geographic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
We all bring to the community the richness of our varied ethnicities, religious and spiritual paths, cultural identities, age, gender, and personal experiences. This diversity is central to the hosting of the many perspectives that Westside strives to foster in a Waldorf community. We encourage an environment that is culturally sensitive, values ethnic uniqueness, and affirms individual lifestyles. The appreciation of a multiplicity of voices is central to a collaborative governing tradition at the Westside Waldorf School.
The School hosts Grades 1-8, four Nurseries, four Kindergartens, two Parent-Child Programs and an Infant/Parent Program.
The Grades Program includes Eurythmy, Spanish, Japanese, Handwork, Strings, Music, Woodwork, Games, a Stewardship Program, After School Sports, and an Aftercare Program.
Certification as a Waldorf teacher is required. A minimum of two years of teaching a Waldorf curriculum is preferred.
Compensation:
• Base Salary: $40,000; +$1,500 annual increments for each year of full-time Waldorf teaching
• Health, dental & tuition benefits
• Professional development benefits
