Part Time High School Math/Physical Sciences Teacher

The Merriconeag Waldorf High School is seeking applicants for a part-time math/science teacher to join our growing high school. This position may include teaching five or six main lessons (Possible lessons are Descriptive Geometry, Conic Sections, Projective Geometry, Chaos and Fractals, Thermal Physics, Kinematics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, Acids Bases and Salts, and Atomic Chemistry).

We are seeking candidates for this part-time position with an undergraduate degree or advanced degree in math, physics, chemistry, environmental science, or other related field. While teacher training in Waldorf Education and experience teaching is desirable, it is not required. Candidates should have an interest in Waldorf education and a commitment to working in an environment that fosters the education of the whole human being.

The Merriconeag Waldorf High School is a young High School founded in 2007, with a student body of approximately 50 students in grades 9-12. In addition to teaching life sciences and math, opportunities abound to help develop community service, athletic and after-school programs. We strive to educate capacities in our students that will allow them to become responsible world citizens.

Our school is located in southern Maine. Our early childhood center and elementary school are located in Freeport. Our high school is located on the beautiful Pineland Farms campus in New Gloucester. Merriconeag Waldorf School is a full member of AWSNA. We have an active branch of the Anthroposophical Society with several study groups that meet regularly. Salaries and benefits at Merriconeag are competitive with other Waldorf Schools.
