May 24 2013 | Upper Valley Waldorf School | Quechee, Vermont
Waldorf foreign language teacher training is preferred, and will be expected as part of the teacher’s ongoing professional development. We seek a candidate who has relevant teaching experience, and a dedication to Waldorf education. This candidate will have a deep love for working with children, effective teaching skills which nurture and help develop the capacities in children, native French language – or extensive study and life experience in a native French speaking country, and the ability and desire to be a part of a dynamic and committed faculty dedicated to children.
We are a Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade school with a current enrollment of 145 for the 2013-2014 school year. We offer a rich Waldorf curriculum which includes foreign language, woodworking, handwork, movement, instrumental and orchestral music and chorus. The Upper Valley Waldorf School is in the process of enhancing our Middle School program to enable us to meet more closely the needs of the developing middle school student. Our upper grades are supported by art and seasonal athletics in addition to the full subjects. Our faculty members represent a rich spectrum of life experiences along with their strength as Waldorf educators. Our school is a developing member of AWSNA. There are five older Waldorf schools within two hours drive, as well as the New England Waldorf Teachers Training Program at Antioch in Keene, NH, and the Rudolf Steiner Institute in Easton, MA, all of which provide ample opportunity for continuing education, conferences and cultural events.
The Upper Valley is a vibrant community located in the hills, villages and towns which border the Connecticut River, nestled between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The quiet beauty of the natural environment offers contemplative pastimes and a full range of outdoor recreation. We are just two hours from Boston, four from Montreal and five from New York City.
Salary: Base $36,146 plus applicable experience. Full benefits package includes Professional Development support, Medical and Dental Insurance plans, Short & Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, TIAA-CREF Retirement Plan, and access to a Flexible Savings Account.
