The Vancouver Waldorf School offers an academic, artistic and practical education based on an understanding of the human being and of child development. Through the Waldorf curriculum we integrate creative and independent thinking with social responsibility in a way that enables students to fulfill their life tasks and contribute to world renewal. We strive to foster a school community in which the integrity of each member is respected, a diversity of gifts is recognized, and the participation in service to the school’s vision and mission is encouraged. The Vancouver Waldorf School was established in 1971 and offers programs from Parent and Tot through to twelfth grade.
Our school operates with a three-fold governance structure, which includes a Pedagogical Carrying Group and sub-committees that effectively empowers faculty to participate in the running of the school, a Board of Trustees with fiduciary responsibility, and a growing community and resource development department. The school’s operations are managed by a team of three administrators – the Pedagogical Administrator, the Business and Facilities Manager, and the Director of Community and Resource Development. We also have an active Parent Council that serves as a portal for parent participation in school life.
Waldorf education has been growing steadily in the Pacific Northwest of North America, and Vancouver Waldorf School is one of several Waldorf schools in the region. This provides many opportunities for personal growth for faculty and staff, deepening their education through workshops, lectures and conferences.
Vancouver is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is considered one of the best places to live. The temperate climate combined with a unique location by the Pacific Ocean and Coastal Mountain Range provides year-round activities such as skiing, hiking, sailing and biking. Vancouver is also a well-known multi-cultural centre with many art galleries, museums, theatres, restaurants, colleges and universities.
