The ideal applicant is an enthusiastic pioneer with a deep connection to anthroposophy, a grasp of the Waldorf High School curriculum, a mastery of his or her area of expertise, demonstrated ability to teach in an enlivened manner, a love and appreciation for adolescents, a firm footing in today’s world, and an ever-expanding ability and desire to work in true colleagueship. Experience with and a comfortability working within a diverse community and classroom setting will be vital to success.
A minimum of a bachelors’ degree is required, although a Master’s or PhD is preferred. A Waldorf High School Teaching Certificate and previous Waldorf High School teaching experience are highly valued. Those interested in full-time, part-time and guest teaching engagements should feel warmly welcome to apply.
Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member of AWSNA (accredited through 2024) and has a robust K-11 enrollment of approximately 300 students. As a private, self-governed school, Tamarack participates in the Milwaukee Parental Choice (voucher) Program and will graduate its first senior class in the spring of 2018.
A culturally, economically and ethnically diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region is guided through the full complement of Waldorf Education by Tamarack’s well-trained, innovative, highly professional and long-serving faculty. Tamarack is situated within an urban landscape, with green spaces and the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan within walking distance of each of our two campuses.
Tamarack Waldorf School is unique in America, making Waldorf Education accessible for students who would not normally be able to afford it while at the same time providing an enlivening atmosphere, diverse in socioeconomic ways unusual to Waldorf Education on this continent. As a recent guest faculty member wrote, “What is being done here is some of the most important and progressive work in education. I talk about it wherever I go and I learn more about teaching here than anywhere else.” If you, as a Waldorf educator, seek a community in which Waldorf Education is accessible to students from all walks of life and, in that, “works” and works well, consider joining us!
Tamarack offers a competitive wage and benefits package, with additions for education and experience.
Interested candidates are asked to submit a resume with contact information for three teaching references, a letter of intention including a brief biography, and a completed employment application (found on our website) to [email protected] . Please include “HS Movement” in the subject line. Applications are due February 15, 2017.
