For Nursery – Grade Eight

Position Summary
The main goal of the WSP Admissions Director position is to achieve and maintain full enrollment at Waldorf School of the Peninsula by bringing in new families and retaining enrolled families. The Admissions Director is responsible for providing a welcoming, informed gateway to Waldorf education in general, and specifically to the Waldorf School of the Peninsula. The Admissions Director works in harmony and close communication with school faculty, board and administration. This Admissions Director position focuses on Early Childhood and Grades 1-8, and will work closely with the Admissions Director focusing on Grades 9-12.

Reporting Relationships
The Admissions Director reports directly to the School Administrator. He or she works closely with prospective and current parents and students, teachers, administrative staff and volunteers. The Admissions Director is responsible for planning and organizing admissions tours and other outreach events. During the enrollment process he or she works with the Early Childhood and Grades Admissions Committees, the First Grade Readiness team and the high school Admissions Director. The Admissions Director also works closely and collaboratively with the Advancement Team and the Marketing Committee in achieving the school’s financial and community building objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Information and Outreach
• Ensure response to phone and email inquiries in a timely manner
• Track incoming application materials, including school reports
• Track and fulfill requests from other schools for school reports
• Work with the Marketing Committee to create, produce and distribute school information packets to inquiring parents, parents on tours, and feeder school mailings
• Plan and execute school tours for Early Childhood and Grades
• Plan and execute major school enrollment events
• Plan and oversee outside enrollment events such as preschool fairs

• Manage admissions process for Early Childhood and Grades 1 – 8
• Manage and host ECE events
• Work with EC admissions committee
• Work with grades admissions committee
• Organize grades applicants, including teacher meetings, assessment and shadows
• Work with high school Admissions Director to establish procedures for enrolling families who will have children attending both campuses.
• Establish a process for handing off a new student to the teacher

• Manage annual re-enrollment process for Early Childhood and Grades 1-8
• Work with parents and faculty on enrollment-related school/student issues
• Manage exit processes and withdrawals, communication with teachers and business office

• Manages database entry and information for inquiries, applications and accepted students
• Manages database updates for students leaving the school
• Supports the 8th grade applications to WSP high school
• Processes 8th grade records requests for applications to other high schools
• Manages student exit processes and withdrawals

• Manage Admissions Committee according to committee mandate
• Member of Advancement Team
• Member of Marketing Committee
• Work with other Los Altos office staff to ensure campus coverage during work week
• Weekly traffic and other duties assignments
• Other duties as assigned
• Provide enrollment reports, trends, forecasts and updates to School Administrator, Board and other Management as needed

The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Outgoing, enthusiastic, warm and friendly presence; interested in parents,
children and teachers
• Strong interpersonal skills, cross-cultural exposure and knowledge
• In-depth understanding of and ability to articulate Waldorf education and WSP’s vision and mission
• Knowledge of issues within Waldorf movement
• Waldorf school background (student, teacher, classes) a plus.
• Organizational Skills; office management; strong PC & computing skills
• Database experience
• Available for full time on-campus weekly schedule, and ability to attend occasional after-school, evening and weekend events
• Able to walk, bend, squat, lift weights up to 30 lb.
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Waldorf teacher training and experience a plus
• Marketing background a plus
