Mixed-age Primary Class Teacher
Feb 16 2017 | Helena River Steiner School | Perth, Western Australia
River Blossom Education Association Inc. in Midland, Western Australia, is seeking a 0.8—1.0 FTE mixed-age Primary Class teacher for a new, very small group of students aged 6-10.
Our ideal candidate is a qualified and experienced Steiner class teacher who is resourceful, flexible and able to bring the Steiner curriculum in an authentic and individual way to each student. Although the Main Lesson may be the same for all students, the work done in their books will need to be catered to each student’s level of learning.
The successful applicant will be involved in developing and structuring the program and
ideally subjects such as music, craft, language and woodwork would also be taught.
The students will effectively be a homeschool group (as we are not yet a registered school) and some flexibility of time will be possible. The teacher may choose that one day in the weekly schedule may be Bush School Day and conducted entirely in the bush (at nearby national park).
The candidate will be expected to plan, lead, record and assess the curriculum for each
student, work independently and creatively, and be a contributing member of staff.
At this stage the wage is a casual rate and dependant on the number of students. When we acquire our school registration –which we hope to obtain by 2018, a full remuneration
package will apply.
The candidate must have a Police Clearance and a Working with Children Check, and ideally Senior Fist Aid.
Applications reviewed as received.
About Helena River Steiner School
First established nearly 4 years ago in Guildford, we have been running Steiner
playgroups, with the view to developing into a Steiner school in the Midland/Swan Valley
area. Our first mixed-age kindergarten class (3-6 yrs) began at the beginning of 2016 in our new premises in Midland. Although we are working towards school registration, we currently operate under an Education and Care licence and children of compulsory school age must be registered as a homeschooler. We aim to expand our mixed-age primary classes each year until we become single stream. The exciting journey ahead requires tenacity, creativity and energy and a spirit of service and enthusiasm from all involved.
