First Grade Teacher
Feb 17 2017 | Corvallis Waldorf School | Corvallis
Our school is seeking a trained and experienced class teacher to join our faculty as the first grade teacher in September 2017. Ideal candidates will have a passion for Waldorf education, experience in elementary education, an understanding of working with parents, and the personal development and self-reflection to be able to work well in a collegial setting.
Qualifications and Benefits:
We have a preference for candidates with a college degree, Waldorf teaching training and experience, and a commitment to Waldorf education and proven capacities for teaching. We are seeking an individual who is committed to excellence in teaching, parent education and dialogue, self-development, collegial cooperation and working out of Anthroposophy. We seek colleagues who share the goals of Waldorf Education and who are dedicated to the healthy development of each child. We offer a competitive salary, health insurance and tuition remission for qualified faculty children.
To apply for any open position at CWS, please send a cover letter, resume, and the names and contact information for three professional references to Peter Zaremba, School Director, at [email protected]
Please contact Peter Zaremba with any further questions. We look forward to hearing from you!
When you join Corvallis Waldorf School, you are joining a community of parents and professional educators who are striving to create an unparalleled educational opportunity for children based on the pedagogical insights of Rudolf Steiner. We provide a developmentally appropriate, arts-integrated education to promote the development of the whole child. Our school fosters the intellect, nurtures the imagination, and recognizes the emotional life of each child. Our aim is to inspire children to live engaged and successful lives, prepared to meet the demands of their world. In Steiner’s words, “Our highest endeavor [is] to develop free human beings who, of themselves, are able to give purpose and direction to their lives.”
Our school started in 1993 in the homes of dedicated and inspired parents in Corvallis. As the school grew, the community occupied a local church building, then an elementary school campus. In August of 2013, we purchased the 12 acre campus and buildings, and we have begun the process of developing the buildings and grounds to suit our needs. We are currently a developing member school with AWSNA. We serve students ranging from parent-child through 8th Grade, and we are growing and welcoming more students each year.
The school is ideally situated, just five minutes from downtown Corvallis, Oregon. Corvallis is an award-winning city that has been recognized as one of the top ten places to live in the country. The school is within 90 minutes of the Portland Metropolitan area, world class skiing, and the famous Oregon coast. Corvallis has a residential population of 55,345 and is home to Oregon State University, making it an ideal small town for people of all ages.
