Lead Aftercare Teacher

The Micha-el School is seeking a fun, loving, and caring Lead Aftercare Teacher for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year and beyond. To be considered for this position you must have one of the following:


*Bachelor’s/ Associate’s degree from a U.S. college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Humanities

*Two years’ experience in a state certified childcare center with at least one year as the Lead Teacher

*Level 8.5 on the Oregon Registry


Waldorf teacher training or experience is a plus. The candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs. along with the ability to obtain First aid/CPR Certification and a Food Handlers card within 30 days of employment.  Applying for the Oregon Registry and taking Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect must be completed before being allowed to work with the children.   


Responsibilities of the Lead Aftercare Teacher include, but are not limited to:
Create a set daily and weekly rhythm
Work directly with children to ensure a safe and fun environment
Help to maintain a clean and orderly classroom
Provide crafting opportunities
Spend a portion of everyday outdoors in all types of weather
Maintain confidentiality in matters regarding parents, children, colleagues and the school
Oversee an assistant


The hours for this position are 12:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This position is Monday through Friday with days off as set forth on the school calendar.   This is an hourly paid position.  It does not have benefits or tuition remission.
