Student Support Coordinator

Mountain Phoenix Community School seeks a full-time Student Support Coordinator beginning August 2017. The Student Support Coordinator will oversee the work of the Student Support Executive Group in planning, implementing and documenting interventions within the Three Streams of Student Support (Restorative Discipline, Social Inclusion/Wellness, Educational Support including Care/Therapeutic) under the model developed by Kim John Payne, working closely with the faculty, families, and administration as a liaison to foster positive working relationships between home and school in support of the children.

Our charter school, as a member of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education, offers a comprehensive academic curriculum along with special subject classes in Handwork, Spanish, Art, Music, Orchestra, Games/Movement, and Eurythmy. Our thriving school with double tracks through the grades serves a diverse community of over 500 children, preschool through eighth grade, by providing a public Waldorf education. Located close to Denver, Colorado, our beautiful campus has a bubbling stream and views of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Our children enjoy year-round outdoor activities with over 300 days of sunshine each year.

Denver also appreciates a dynamic Anthroposophical community with an Anthroposophical medical practice, an active Anthroposophical society branch, study groups, Sound Circle Eurythmy, and 3 Waldorf high schools nearby.

Known as the Mile-High City, Denver has a vibrant art and performing arts community and dozens of great outdoor festivals. You will find everything a cosmopolitan city has to offer including easy access to the beautiful Rocky Mountains, as well as the nation’s 2nd largest performing arts center.

The candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in education, school counseling, or a related field and be a Certified Waldorf Class Teacher or Waldorf Therapeutic Educator (or equivalent Waldorf certification). S/he will have an understanding and successful experience in the areas of student support of discipline, social skills, and therapeutic/remedial approaches. Training and/or familiarity with Kim John Payne’s Three Streams approach is preferred. A minimum of 5 years teaching in the classroom ECE-grade 8 is preferred, along with a working knowledge of the charter school movement and Public Waldorf Education.
