Program Director, part-time
Apr 10 2017 | Haleakala Waldorf School | Maui, Hawaii
Haleakala Waldorf School, founded in 1972, is located on two campuses: the early childhood classes and grades 1-8 are on the Kealahou campus in Upcountry Kula, Maui, a rural plantation-era campus of five acres on the gentle slope of Mt. Haleakala. The host Hawaiian culture thrives at Haleakala Waldorf School, with its students versed in ancient chants and protocol, as well as beloved songs of the islands. Festivals are strong communal events, with experienced trained teachers leading the way.
The Kaluanui High School campus is located on the historic grounds of the Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center, in Upcountry Makawao, Maui. Our four year old High School is graduating its second senior class, 17 students, in June 2017. We are young and forming, with experienced professional teachers and a fully accredited program to offer our 55 High School and 250 Lower School students. Our High School students, faculty and staff began enjoying our brand new custom-designed classrooms and administrative building at the beginning of the current school year, in additional to enjoying the previously existing Arts classrooms hosting our ceramics, jewelry making, basket weaving, bookbinding, print making, and more. Our Sports program offering includes Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Surfing, Paddling, and Martial Arts. These offerings are driven by the students' area of interest.
It's an exciting time for the growth and development of our campus! We are seeking someone to join our staff, with a pioneering spirit who would enjoy helping our High School continue to refine its program and offerings. Ideal candidates will have a deep appreciation for the tenets of Waldorf education, hold a minimum of a BA degree, with MA preferred. Lead classroom teaching experience at the High School level is essential, along with the ability to be flexible to meet the changing needs of a small and growing school. You would have the opportunity to help shape this special High School program for Maui's teenagers.
HWS offers a generous compensation package. This part-time, year round, position includes a competitive half-time salary; medical, dental, drug, and vision coverage; 401k retirement plan; and professional development opportunities.
Interested candidates should email a resume, including three (3) professional references with contact information, and a cover letter sharing what interests you about this opportunity, to [email protected] Indicate: HS PROGRAM DIRECTOR in the subject line.
