Position Summary – Kindergarten Teacher / Full Time (1 FTE)

The Kelowna Waldorf School is seeking a Kindergarten teacher to begin August 2017. Responsibilities of the Kindergarten class teacher include:

The Waldorf Kindergarten offers a warm, beautiful and loving home-like environment that encourages the child’s imagination through developmentally appropriate stories, seasonal songs, free play and time spent in nature. The individual filling this position will guide their class through a developmentally appropriate Waldorf curriculum, fostering healthy relationships and an atmosphere of reverence, gratitude, wonder for the world and nature. The individual must be passionate about, and interested in learning and implementing Waldorf pedagogy. The Kelowna Waldorf School is an established AWSNA Associate member now in its 35th year. We offer a comprehensive Waldorf curriculum including Eurythmy, Handwork, French, German and Movement Education. Our faculty is experienced and committed to working out of Anthroposophy and the ideals of Waldorf Education. The annual starting salary is $45,000.

Located on Okanagan Lake in British Columbia, Kelowna offers artistic, professional, personal and physical attributes making this one of the most sought after communities in Canada. Qualifications:

· Legally able to work in Canada
· Have completed or currently enrolled in a Waldorf Certified ECE Training program (not online) with a clear understanding of Rudolf Steiner's education and philosophy
· BC Teaching Certificate or eligibility
· Experienced in Waldorf Education
· Current Criminal Record Check in compliance with the BC Criminal Record Review Act

• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task with confidence.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Teaching experience with groups of children under 7 years of age is desired.
• Willingness and ability to work within a community environment.
• Current CPR
