Part-Time School Counselor

The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Part Time School Counselor. The School Counselor will work closely to support Middle and High School students while working collaboratively to support teachers and administrative efforts to ensure the delivery of a high quality Waldorf education.

The Denver Waldorf School is looking for someone who has a demonstrated commitment to the development and health of the whole child, recognizing the importance of mental health and wellness as one component of the developing human being. The ideal candidate will be open, welcoming, and engaging to others and lead by active involvement in the life of the school.

The School Counselor will have the ability to focus on the social and emotional health of the students while also working to create a healthy culture in the school. Knowledge of Waldorf school philosophy is a plus.

Education and Skills
• Master’s Degree in a mental health field required
• Experience in schools and working with high school and middle school students
• Ability to respond promptly and calmly to crisis
• Ability to do brief focused work
• Success in working in a collaborative work environment
• Ability to self-manage in a fast paced environment
• Open and supportive of Independent Schools
• Knowledge of drug and alcohol in adolescence
• Experience in restorative practice a plus
• Ability to create and maintain referral list

The Denver Waldorf School
The Denver Waldorf School is an urban Waldorf school in the heart of Denver and close to the Rocky Mountains. The school was founded in 1974 and enrolls approximately 360 students in pre-K through Grade 12. The school is an accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS). The school’s mission is to awaken and inspire students’ critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and artistic expression, preparing them to bring relevant contributions to the world.
