Grade School Educational Support Coordinator

The Educational Support Coordinator (ESC) manages and coordinates all evaluation services and interventions provided by San Francisco Waldorf School for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The ESC directs evaluation and coordinates the teaching of small groups in need of remediation. The ESC shares with the Care Group the responsibility to continually develop resources for teachers and families in the form of therapies, interventions and presentations for faculty members.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the calendar and schedule for the following yearly evaluation services:

First Grade Entry Review of Developmental Milestones
Second Grade Review of Developmental Milestones
Cognitive screenings and follow-ups by Certified Educational Therapist (CET)
Fifth Grade Skills Check (with class teacher) and Screening

Coordinate the following evaluation services:

First Grade Entry Review (with K teachers)
Extra Lesson spot-checks in every grade, as needed
Conduct the following evaluation services (in collaboration with Extra Lesson Teacher as appropriate):
Fifth Grade Screening
Classroom Observations
Intake Assessments

Coordinate small group academic services for students with SSPs.

Facilitate Therapeutic Eurythmy with Class Teachers and Therapeutic Eurythmist.

Coordinate Extra Lesson sessions with Extra Lesson Teacher

Create General Support Plans (GSPs), lead or facilitate follow-up discussions at Parent-Teacher conferences at the beginning and end of the school year or as needed; create Student Support Plans (SSPs) with the Educational Support Team (class teacher, extra lesson teacher (as appropriate) and CET).

Visit classrooms and facilitate communication amongst teachers regarding students with special needs.

Maintain student files

Collaborate with the HS ESC in maintaining a bridge between GS and HS, especially as regards admissions of special needs students to our HS. Attend HS Admissions meeting with class teacher to present profiles of students with SSPs and GSPs.

Schedule families for visits with Anthroposophic MD. Coordinate visit in collaboration with High School ESC, Grade School Chair and Grade School Receptionist.

Engage in professional development focusing on best practices with therapies and remedial approaches to learning differences, both within the Waldorf movement and outside.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or Credential in Special Education or Educational Psychology required
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university
Successful completion of Waldorf Remedial Educational Support Training preferred
Waldorf classroom teaching experience preferred

Benefits and Compensation:

This is a full-time faculty position (1FTE). Benefits include medical, dental, flexible spending plans, retirement plan (after one year), and tuition remission for eligible dependents in our N-12 program. Salaries are paid on a 12-month schedule.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment:


Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold
Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours

FLSA Classification: Faculty; Exempt from overtime
