Business Administrator

Aug 04 2017 | Maple Village Waldorf School | Long Beach, California

Maple Village Waldorf School is seeking a Business Administrator. We invite you to become a part of our team as we enter our 10th year and continue to grow. We serve 180 students from Parent/Toddler classes through 8th grade. Currently we are a Developing Member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association (WECAN) and the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and are working towards completing our full accreditation. Our heartfelt, dedicated community features an active parent body, a committed board and supportive faculty and staff. As a nearly zero-waste school, we are dedicated to sustainability, and are one of four private schools in the state to receive the California Green Ribbon Award at the Gold Level. We are located in Belmont Heights, an idyllic residential neighborhood in east Long Beach. The area is a quiet gem in Los Angeles County: walkable, diverse, close to the beach and parks and not congested.

The Business Administrator is responsible for managing the school’s resources in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the school and will be a strategic partner with the School Administrator and Board of Trustees and participate with the highly collaborative administrative team, contributing to long-term planning and current operations. He/She is responsible for accounting, payroll through ADP, vendor invoices, human resources, collecting and tracking tuition payments, the maintenance of staff files, risk management, and tuition assistance activities of the school.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Minimum 2 years relevant work experience, with a preference for nonprofit or independent school experience;
Ability to work independently and multitask, while paying attention to accuracy and detail;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, school information management systems, Google sheets and docs;
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a professional, friendly and positive demeanor;
Ability to maintain confidentiality around personnel and sensitive information at all times;
Team player who works effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, changing environment.

The position is part-time (approx. 20 hours per week). Hourly rate is contingent on experience (Range starting at $25 per hour).

Individuals interested in applying for this position should send a cover letter, resume and a minimum of three professional references to Board Member, Elizabeth Seward at [email protected]
