Instrumental Music Teacher

Overview of Position
Waldorf School at Moraine Farm is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to inspire a love for and interest in music in grades one through eight. This teacher will support a robust strings and instrumental program at our school by leading and conducting strings ensembles for grades three, four and five, and lead our middle school orchestra. This person will also collaborate with class teachers to bring appropriate musical experiences to students in all grades, including but not limited to, flute and recorder teaching, musical games, basic music theory, music history, and will provide a selection of musical pieces to support and complement the history curriculum at our school.

Employment Details:
This is a part-time salaried position.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent in general or instrumental music
• Proficiency in one or more stringed instruments
• Some proficiency in recorder playing
• Experience in, or leading, a student orchestra
• At least three years of teaching experience
• Training or interest in Waldorf education and willingness to engage in related training
• Strong interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent in music
• Waldorf music teacher certification or Waldorf training equivalent
• Proficiency in other instruments
• Experience leading a student orchestra or music program

ABOUT WALDORF SCHOOL at Moraine FARM:
Our healthy, thriving school, now in its 30th year, is a full member of AWSNA. Our school has approximately 120 children enrolled in nursery through eighth grade. Children in grades one through eight participate in several subject classes, including Physical Education, Music (Strings and Orchestra), Handwork, and Foreign Languages (German and Spanish). Our Early Childhood program includes kindergarten, nursery, and parent-child classes. Our faculty is a diverse, multi-generational group of men and women. We are a mix of both new and experienced teachers. We are committed to faculty support and development and provide ongoing mentoring and regular evaluation. Our governance structure includes a full time Executive Director, Faculty Administrator and a College of Teachers. We enjoy strong collaborative relationships among our Faculty, College, Board, and Parents.
We are located in a picturesque area just north of Boston, Massachusetts. Our school is now in our fourth year at our new campus on historic Moraine Farm.
