Pedagogical Chair for Current Year - 2017-18

The Waldorf School of Atlanta is pleased to announce an opening for Pedagogical Chair for the 2017-2018 school year. The Pedagogical Chair position is one part of our three-person Leadership Team. Working closely with the Community Chair and the school’s Administrator, the Pedagogical Chair plans and implements the pedagogical objectives as they align with the Mission of the school, ensuring the highest quality education for our students. This person holds the “big” pedagogical picture and works with the faculty to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Waldorf curriculum and the children.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced Waldorf teacher with enthusiasm, creativity, and proven collaborative leadership capabilities. Ideally, this person should have served in a leadership capacity in a school faculty and have actively participated in a Waldorf school’s College of Teachers and/or Board of Trustees. The ideal candidate should enjoy mentoring and coaching and welcome the opportunity to serve other teachers in a supporting capacity. This person should be process-oriented, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Our ideal candidate will have teaching experience in first through eighth grades and an administrative background. Strong verbal and written communication and creative problem solving skills are essential. We seek an individual who is committed to the fullest development of the curriculum, the health of our teachers and the continued study of Anthroposophy as the spiritual foundation of Waldorf education.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:
• Oversee all WSA programs to ensure pedagogical quality, consistency, and student success
• Support teachers in their ongoing professional development
• Provide leadership and support clear communication regarding WSA programs and policies
• Ensure support for Strategic Plan and Accreditation reviews
• Serve as an official school representative at school events

The Waldorf School of Atlanta is situated on a 5-acre campus in a quiet residential community adjacent to the vibrant city of Atlanta. Our sister high school, Academe of the Oaks, is a mile away. While we have other independent schools as competition, there is no other school using Waldorf methods in the Atlanta area. Our experienced and creative faculty works closely with an active and dedicated Board of Trustees and a committed and talented parent community. An established Core Faculty with years of Waldorf experience share a strong commitment to studying and working with anthroposophy. Our community supports a robust Foundation Studies program through the Center for Anthroposophy, a quarterly visit from the Christian Community priest, and branch of the Anthroposophical Society.
