Kindergarten Teacher - Immediate Opening

Oct 03 2017 | Golden Bridges School | San Francisco, CA

Kindergarten teacher 2017-18
Golden Bridges School, San Francisco, CA

Golden Bridges School is a small, groundbreaking school entering it’s 5th full school year in September 2017. GBS was founded by Waldorf-trained teachers and currently operates in San Francisco’s Excelsior neighborhood serving preschool through third grade with 84 students and 19 staff members. The school intends to grow into a full preschool-8th grade school.

GBS is taking a fresh look at Waldorf education, asking what the children of today in San Francisco need from teachers and education in general. One major result of this question is the development of a robust outdoor curriculum. The kindergarten spends two days in an indoor classroom, two days at our urban farm 3 blocks away, and 1 day hiking in Glen Canyon.
We are also dedicated to becoming an anti-racist school, committed to social justice, internally and externally, that is inclusive and welcoming to all. The staff meets weekly and incorporates anthroposophy into each weekly meeting.

For the 2017-2018 school year we are looking for one kindergarten co-teacher in a class of 14 students and 1 co-teacher already teaching.

A kindergarten co-teacher’s responsibilities include:
Developing age-appropriate curriculum for both the indoors and outdoors
A commitment to each child’s growth
Parent education and meetings
Faculty meetings and school committees involvement

The type of teacher we are looking for:
Comfortable and enthusiastic in all weather!
Previous experience as a teacher or long time assistant
Confident in Waldorf curriculum and anthroposophy
Inspired to be part of a groundbreaking school
Strong collaborator
Fluent in a second language is a plus
Extremely flexible and creative
We look forward to hearing from all interested teachers from around the world.

Competitive salary and partial benefits available.
