Educational Support Staff at Oxbow Schoolhouse support individual and small groups of students by offering tutoring or small group lessons in math and language arts.

Staff will help students reach their full potential by supplementing the instruction they receive in class and guiding them toward study practices and aides that can help them excel. Tutors work with individual students one-on-one or in small groups for students who are studying similar material.

Educational Support Staff are encouraged to provide input and suggestions to the Teachers, and to develop and nurture healthy relationships with the students, teachers and school families. Successful candidates are interested in learning more about Waldorf education and working within this educational framework. Educational Support staff are required to submit written reports four times yearly in October, January, March and June including a written description of the class and a report for each child. This position may expand in the future as the school grows and could include recess and/or lunch duty.

Bachelor’s degree required
Teaching certificate preferred
3+ years’ experience working with children in an academic setting
Ability to pass a background check
Excellent communication skills
Established proficiency in language arts and math

Will vary with some flexibility dependent on student, school and support staff needs. Currently seeking availability for Mondays and Thursdays from 10:45 – 12:45.

Compensation is based on experience and training.

Educational Support Staff report to the Faculty Chair, who oversees their work, collaborating with them to determine appropriate avenues for professional development. Educational Support Staff will follow school policies and procedures as described in the school’s handbook, which can be viewed online at www.oxbowschoolhouse.org. It is understood by both the Faculty Chair and Educational Support Staff that as the school evolves, so may the staff member’s responsibilities, which are not limited to the work specified in this description. Both parties agree to work together in good faith to the best of their abilities to support the growth and improvement of Oxbow Schoolhouse.
