GRADES ONE - EIGHT INTERN/ASSISTANT TEACHER and DISMISSAL COORDINATOR

The Westside Waldorf School in Pacific Palisades, California, is seeking an engaged and energetic Intern/Assistant Teacher to support classes in Grades One through Eight.

This position is full-time, hourly, and will provide support to all Grades Class Teachers, per assignment by the College of Teachers and Administration. The position runs from late August-June of each academic year. The position is focused on academic support, substitution support, and training towards becoming a class teacher. It also includes support on the playground, and coordinating dismissal.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Yard/recess monitor (morning break), and afternoon dismissal coordinator

· Substitute teaching; first in line for scheduled morning substitution periods

· In-classroom support

· Aftercare support

· Assistance with main lesson preparations

· Accompanying some (morning) field trips

· Participation in several parent meetings and conferences during the year

· May include ML block teaching

Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:30, including 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Westside Waldorf School's main campus is nestled between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. We are fortunate to have both the ocean and the local state park within easy walking access for class outings and learning opportunities. In addition to our full grades 1-8 program, we have four Nurseries, four Kindergartens, and two Parent Child Programs. We also provide After-School Sports and an Enriched Aftercare Program.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Certification of completion or currently enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of Waldorf Teacher Training from an AWSNA accredited institution.

· A Bachelor’s degree is required.
