G1-G8 Music Teacher Part or Full Time

The Washington Waldorf School, located in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking hourly to full-time teacher(s) to fill the following positions:

Grades 1-3 General Music (6 classes/week)
Singing, choroi flutes, singing games, story. Each class meets twice weekly.

Grades 1-3 Lyres (6 classes/week)
Developing listening skills, teaching basic lyre technique, developing lyre curriculum. Each class meets once per week. Candidate should have a Waldorf lyre playing and teaching background, or a willingness and interest in being trained.

Grades 4-8 Strings Program Director (8 classes/week)
Work to further develop an established program. Hire and oversee adjunct teachers. Candidate should have strong musical and conducting skills. Background in violin, viola, or cello preferred, but not required. All students receive private instruction.

Full-time teachers will have the following additional responsibilities:
• Work with students with a variety of learning styles and different levels of skill and ability
• Develop curriculum
• Participate in continued professional development
• Attend faculty meetings and committee meetings
• Attend and assist in school events
• Work collaboratively with Music Director, colleagues, and parents
• Manage and maintain classroom(s) and supplies

Requirements for full-time or hourly positions include a bachelors degree or higher. Experience teaching grades 1-8 and/or Waldorf teaching credentials is preferred. Candidates without Waldorf teaching credentials will be required to participate in additional professional development.

Full time faculty are eligible for health, life, and disability insurance, as well as tuition remission. A retirement plan is available after one year of full-time employment. Salary is based on experience.

The Washington Waldorf School is located on a beautiful six-acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland, minutes from Washington, DC. Our enrollment is about 300 students, from early childhood through grade 12. We are fully accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS) and the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), and we are members of the Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington (AISGW).
