Job Title: Pedagogical Administrator
Reports to: Faculty Council
Work schedule: Full time

Summary: The Brooklyn Waldorf School is seeking a Pedagogical Administrator to join our staff immediately. The Pedagogical Administrator provides leadership to the school, working out of a model of servant and collaborative leadership. The Pedagogical Administrator works closely with the Faculty Council, the Administrative Council, and the Board of Trustees to plan and implement the pedagogical and administrative objectives of the school community. The position of Pedagogical Administrator acts as the faculty liaison to the Board of Trustees, and is also a conduit for managing the concerns of the parent community.

The Pedagogical Administrator inspires a culture of collaborative initiative and ensures that the faculty addresses matters of prime importance necessary for the effective functioning and overall health of the school.

A successful candidate will:

Be an experienced trained Waldorf teacher with previous successful leadership experience in a Waldorf context.

Have a demonstrated commitment to collaboration, objectivity, relationship and consensus building as well as conflict resolution.

Be timely, well-organized, able to effectively manage multiple projects, and have excellent communications skills.

Have a demonstrated ability to set priorities and maintain accountability.

Have the ability to convert strategies into effective operational activities and achievements in a timely manner.

Have strong basic word processing and email skills.

Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent.

Experience or interest in working with Waldorf Education in a distinctly urban environment.

Ideal candidate will exhibit an interest in working with anthroposophy as it applies to organizational structure and human development.

The Brooklyn Waldorf School provides an extraordinary Waldorf education in an urban environment for children in Parent-Child through Eighth grade.

The School has been in a period of growth and expansion since its inception in 2004. Our beautiful home since 2010 is a historic property known as “Claver Castle” in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. We offer the full Waldorf curriculum complete with gym, theater, terrace gardens and outdoor play spaces. Our community consists of creative and highly participative parents who support our teachers and administrative staff. The Grades program is enriched by special subject teachers in orchestra, chorus, eurythmy, handwork, music, games, Spanish, and Chinese. The Brooklyn Waldorf school is a full WECAN member and an AWSNA developing school.

The Anthroposophic community in New York City and State is very vibrant and includes the Anthroposophic Society, Biodynamic Farms, Camphill Communities, the Threefold Education Center, Sunbridge College, and a number of area Waldorf Schools.
