About the Position

Camphill Village Kimberton Hills (CVKH) is now accepting applications for the position of Director of Development. As a key member of the administrative team, s/he will manage all aspects of the organization’s development program - Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Donor Relations, Special Campaigns, Fundraising Events and Corporate and Foundation Giving. With a results-oriented and enthusiastic temperament, the Director of Development will aim to successfully achieve the organization’s fundraising goals in an effort to further the mission of CVKH. In addition to strong management skills, s/he must be a strategist and eager to work collaboratively with Development colleagues and invested members of the community. The Director of Development supervises the Grants Manager and Development Associate, reports to and works in close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Business Office, the Development Committee and Board of Trustees.

Camphill Village Kimberton Hills is a nonprofit organization situated on 432 acres in Chester County, Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to creating a community where the values of service, sharing, spiritual nourishment, and recognition of each individual’s gifts and contributions offer a model of renewal for the wider society. We are over 100 people with and without disabilities, sharing our daily life, in ways that are both intentionally therapeutic and intentionally personal. There are currently 44 residents with developmental disabilities, 29 of whom are elderly, and 51 resident volunteers (and their children), who share their lives together in 16 homes across the village. People of all abilities work side-by-side at the award-winning dairy, weavery and fiber arts, pottery, Sankanac Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) garden (that provides for the village residents and to over 250 families outside of the village), Sweet Water Baking Company, Camphill Café (open to the public), the orchards, herb garden, apiary, vineyard, and homemaking.


Our preferred candidate is an experienced development professional, a motivated leader of the highest integrity and a team player. S/he seeks to actively contribute to a community of life-sharing individuals all striving to help residents live lives to their fullest potential.

• Bachelor’s degree required, Graduate degree preferred.
• Anthroposophical or Camphill Community experience/knowledge is desired.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional
experience in development/fundraising.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
● Proficiency in use of fundraising databases, donor research tools, Microsoft Office programs and digital communication tools.
● Strong written and verbal communications skills.
● Demonstrated experience soliciting major gifts.
● The ability to work well with various personalities.
● The ability to work well independently and collaboratively to successfully see projects through to completion.

Essential Duties

● Coordinating fundraising and public relations for CVKH - identifying, cultivating and soliciting contributions, sponsorships, and major gifts as part of annual fundraising and capital campaigns.
● Managing stewardship of donors, acknowledging and processing gifts and database management.
● Ensuring regular outreach on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Blogs).
● Participating in public events, speaking engagements, exhibits, workshops and conferences to increase awareness of CVKH.
● Collaborating to fulfill other duties of Development Department, including writing and design of newsletter, appeals, and other printed materials.
● Working with a variety of small enterprises within CVKH to help with their development and public relations needs as appropriate.
● Meeting regularly with Development Group to ensure communication and alignment with community stakeholders.
● Leading the Board Development Committee, organizing their involvement with the Development Department and reporting to the Board.
● Planning and coordinating annual events, seeking local business sponsorship support.
● Managing department budget and expenses with Executive Director & department colleagues.
● Working nights, weekends and travel as needed.


The compensation for the Director of Development position includes:
