We invite you to join our independent study charter program inspired by Waldorf methods. We are currently seeking a Learning Coach for our Kindergarten Class.

LOCATION
Our community will welcome you to North County San Diego. This area is becoming a rich Waldorf community with biodynamic farms, private Waldorf schools, study groups and a close proximity to WISC (Waldorf Institute of Southern California).

The Willow Tree program serves a diverse population that might not otherwise have access to a curriculum inspired by Waldorf methods. We are an independent study program that meets Monday - Thursday in a park in San Diego North County. The students at Willow Tree are taught to have an enthusiasm for learning, a healthy self-awareness, interest and concern for others, and respect for the natural world.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking individuals who possess high expectations, a strong sense of personal accountability, strong “teacherly” presence, a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.

The Learning Coach supports the lead teacher in creating and implementing an educational program and learning environment conducive to the academic and personal growth of each and every child.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning Coach Responsibilities:
- Works with the lead teacher to plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to Willow Tree's philosophy, goals and objectives.
- Creates an environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
- Encourages student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of study habits.
- Provides input about progress through authentic observations.
- Evaluates students' academic and social growth through multiple measures, helps lead teacher maintain appropriate records and independent study compliance reporting.
- Participates and collaborates in meetings to improve student learning (e.g. GLIT, SST, IEP, curriculum development, individualized learning plan, staff meetings, etc.).
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping solve students’ health, attitude, and learning challenges.
- Maintains professional competence through professional development educational activities.
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in employee evaluation.
- Utilize technology as a means of communicating with parents/guardians of students.
- Operate a computer and standard office equipment (e.g. copier).
- Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities as necessary (e.g. field trips).
- Participate in faculty committees, the sponsorship of student activities, and program-wide activities.
- Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
- Strive to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed.
- Work cooperatively with parents to strengthen the educational program for their children.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other staff members.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Waldorf Experience (preferred but not required)
- California Teaching Credential (preferred but not required)
- BA Degree
- TB Test
- LiveScan Clearance

Our Teaching Assistants need to have excellent interpersonal skills and a desire for warm collegiality with educational peers. We need professionals with a passion for co-creating, collaboration, and teamwork. We are looking for individuals that possess a strong sense of personal accountability, a positive attitude and exceptional communication skills. Along with these characteristics, we would like someone who can foster warm relationships with families and children.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday - Thursday: approximately 7.0 hours per day (8:00am - 3:00pm) Part Time
Start date: February 2017


COMPENSATION
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $16 - 20/hr.
Paid professional development opportunities will also be offered.
