Pedagogical Chair

Working out of a model of collaborative leadership, the Pedagogical Chair works closely with the full Collegium, the Pedagogical/HR Committee, the Administration, and the Board of Trustees to plan and implement the pedagogical and administrative objectives and decisions of these bodies. Pedagogical / HR Committee members are key advisors to the Pedagogical Chair. They form the group responsible for the development, monitoring and success of the school’s educational program.

The Pedagogical Chair serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees, and participates in Parent Council and administrative staff meetings. Inspiring a culture of collaboration, the Pedagogical Chair ensures that the faculty carries out its role in fulfilling the school’s mission. The Board of Trustees ensures that appropriate human resources, finance/accounting, facilities management, and admissions resources support this position.

Our ideal candidate will:
• Have at least 10 years experience as a Waldorf teacher with proven collaborative leadership experiences in a Waldorf school
• Hold a Bachelor's degree, preferably in education or a related field
• Possess Waldorf certification or equivalent
• Have teacher mentoring experience and / or training
• Have a strong understanding of and ability to articulate Waldorf pedagogy and anthroposophy
• Demonstrate a commitment to and the necessary skills for collaboration, objectivity, relationship and consensus building, and conflict resolution
• Be timely, well-organized, able to effectively manage multiple projects, and have excellent communication skills
• Have a demonstrated ability to set priorities and maintain accountability and appropriate documentation as required by the school
• Have the ability to think strategically, develop, and implement programs
• Have the ability to implement strategies in a timely manner
• Be an eloquent public speaker
• Have the ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel and student information
• Have strong administrative computer skills including experience with MS Office suite, email platforms, Google docs, and comfort with database systems
• Demonstrate a warm, caring manner with adults and children
