Music Teacher for 2018-2019

Feb 05 2018 | Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs | Saratoga Springs, NY

The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs is seeking a music teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching music, and certification in Waldorf teaching is preferred. The responsibilities would include a combination of the following in our lower and high schools: music classes, orchestra and choral directing, strings or winds instruction, and recorder instruction.

The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs was founded in 1981 and currently serves 250 children from preschool through grade twelve. We are full members of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and are accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools. We have an Absolute Charter from the University of the State of New York Education Department. Our eclectic downtown campus is spread over four historic buildings, three of which are within walking distance of each other in the small city of Saratoga Springs, NY.

Our Early Childhood Center houses a preschool class and two mixed-age kindergartens. Our Forest Kindergarten, located on state park land two miles outside of town, also houses a preschool class and mixed-age kindergartens. The Lower School serves grades one through eight and offers a richness of experience in both its class teachers and special subjects (eurythmy, handwork, language, music and spacial dynamics). The High School faculty offers students expertise in all of the subject areas, a foreign exchange program, junior internships and a culminating senior project.

Saratoga Springs is a charming Victorian resort town nestled in the foothills of the Adirondacks with a population of approximately 30,000. We are three hours from Boston, New York City and Montreal. Our location offers four delightful seasons, proximity to both wilderness and major cities, and at the same time a comfortable small-town feeling. Because of our popularity as a summer-time destination, Saratoga Springs offers many world class cultural events, such as hosting both the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra. We have a thriving music and theater life, restaurants, shops and community events.

For more information, please visit our website: www.waldorfsaratoga.org. Our salary is $29,000 to $40,000 depending on FTE status and Waldorf experience. We offer a generous benefits package that includes tuition remission, medical coverage, and a simple IRA.

Please send your letter of interest, resume and three references to: Julie Niles, hr@waldorfsaratoga.org or mail to: 122 Regent Street Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
