Portland Waldorf School is welcoming applications for a part-time High School Chair starting in the 2018-19 school year. The ideal candidate loves adolescents, has intuition and visioning skills to ensure the high school meets what is needed for the new generation of students, is able to give eloquent public presentations about the value of a Waldorf High School education, is able to work in unity with the grades school to bridge the grades and high school, is very organized and good with time management, prioritization and follow-through, is collaborative in decision making, has been successful in managing personnel issues warmly and directly, is confident and warm in upholding form and policies, is able to remain calm during conflict, has been successful in facilitating disagreements between two groups, and understands how to work with parents, faculty and students in a way that they feel heard, held accountable for agreed upon policies, and empowered to make a difference in the life of the school. A Bachelor’s Degree is required; Preferred candidates will also have a Waldorf High School Teacher training certificate and experience teaching in a Waldorf High School. This position could be combined with another part-time position at our school.

We are looking for an individual dedicated to Waldorf education, with love and enthusiasm for our school’s mission. We value collaborative working relations among our colleagues, confidence in representing Waldorf education to the broader community, and dedication to the whole school. Portland Waldorf School was founded in 1982 and is fully accredited through AWSNA. We serve about 300 students in Early Childhood through 12th grade on a beautiful seven-acre campus. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum including Music, Handwork, Blacksmith and Woodwork, Drama, Living Lab, Outdoor Education, Spanish, German, Foreign Exchange program, Eurythmy, Games/PE, as well as a middle and high school Athletics Program.
