Seeking a Gardening Teacher for Fall, 2018

Feb 06 2018 | River Valley Waldorf School | Upper Black Eddy, PA

River Valley Waldorf School sits amid woods and fields, on the bluffs above the mighty Delaware River. Our immediate environment is rural, yet we are conveniently just over an hour from both New York City and Philadelphia; about 40 minutes from the Lehigh Valley. Housed in a former public elementary school building, our programs include grades one through eight, kindergarten, nursery and parent-child classes. We are proud to offer a strong professional development program for our faculty and of our ability to offer a full Waldorf curriculum, which currently includes: Spanish, Handwork, Sculptural Arts (woodworking & clay), Fine Arts, Music, Gardening and Eurythmy.

We are accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS).

Both our faculty and parent body are tight-knit, supportive and welcoming; committed to community and diversity. River Valley Waldorf School is supported by a Pedagogical Chair, Leadership Council, Administrative Team and Board of Trustees.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Gardening teacher to work with our first through fifth grades beginning in July, 2018. Between now and the end of this school year there is opportunity to observe and/or assist our current teacher which would provide a new hire an invaluable opportunity to prepare for the following school year.

This position requires knowledge of child development, Waldorf curriculum, as well as biodynamic and organic gardening. This is a part time teaching position of eight classroom hours per week, as well as additional weekly gardening hours for maintenance, planning, planting and harvesting crops.

Interested applicants should submit resume, references and a short biographical sketch.
