High School Humanities Teacher

Monadnock Waldorf School seeks a full time high school Humanities teacher for Fall 2018 to teach teaching morning lesson blocks and ongoing skills classes in English (with some history possible). Blocks include: Story of Drama and The Novel (9th grade), Art of Poetry and the Odyssey (10th grade), Parzival and Hamlet (11th grade), and The Birth of American Literature and Goethe’s Faust (12th grade). Skills classes include vocabulary, grammar, composition, short story, study skills, the Art of the Essay.

The ideal candidate will have completed or currently be enrolled in an AWSNA recognized Waldorf teacher education program. We look for candidates who are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about teaching out of the philosophical and methodological principles of Waldorf Education—and who are committed to working with adolescents. Candidates with previous HS teaching experience receive preference, especially if it is Waldorf HS experience. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in a related area, Masters or PhD preferred. Additional interests and skills in theater, the arts, movement, outdoor education, and student social initiatives will benefit a candidacy.

For the right candidate or new teacher seriously interested in becoming a Waldorf teacher, MWS supports Waldorf certification programs (eventual certification is a requirement of all full-time faculty), and provides extensive in-school mentorship and support. We also invite teachers to apply who may be interested in administrative work combined with a reduced teaching load. And we welcome candidates interested in teaching guest blocks.
