My name is Victoria Swany, and I’m a 22 year old graduate of Ursinus College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology and Honors in Education (with minors in Neuroscience and Elementary Education).

I am currently working for City Year, an Americorps program through which I work primarily in a 7th grade classroom tutoring and mentoring. I also write lesson plans for and run after school programs as well as participate in professional, leadership development and community service.

Additionally, I volunteer as a group leader for our City Heroes program; I lead a group of high schoolers in community service and discussions about issues such as poverty, hunger, racism, and other societal afflictions.

I will graduate from City Year in early June, and I know that working as a teaching assistant would be the perfect opportunity for me at this stage though I am willing to do anything that will give me the chance to work in schools or as an educator. I aspire to obtain my Waldorf certification in the near future and to work as a class teacher. I am passionate about providing our nation’s youth with quality education, and I ultimately hope to play an integral role in public school reform.

CEDARWOOD is a Waldorf School located in the heart of Portland, Oregon. Our Early Childhood Program includes a Parent-Child program and four mixed-age kindergartens. We are a family from India living in United States for about 15 years. We have two boys, ages 9 and 6 years old. We live in a waldorf community in Chestnut Ridge, New York. Our boys go to the Green Meadow Waldorf School between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. We are looking for someone who will live with us and help us in taking care of our boys before and after school and during the breaks when the school is closed. We would highly prefer someone with a “waldorf” background. We are looking for someone who wants to be a part of our family and live in a community. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in taking a year’s break from school work but continuing to experience and involve in a working community in an Anthroposophical environment. In addition to the school, this community also has the Rudolf Steiner Fellowship Community, Threefold Educational Foundation, Sunbridge College, Pfeiffer Center, Eurythmy School, a natural food co-op.
