Founded in 1986 as a preschool/kindergarten program, The Waldorf School of Atlanta graduated its first eighth grade class in 2000. We currently offer preschool to grade eight education for approximately 237 students, including Spanish, Eurythmy, Movement Education, Music (Recorder, Strings, Chorus, Drumming), Handwork, Woodwork, Practical Arts, and Sports Programs. Our parent/child program warmly introduces young families to Waldorf education. The school is fully accredited by four local and national accrediting bodies, and is a full member of AWSNA. Academe of the Oaks Waldorf High School opened in the fall of 2003, just five minutes from our campus.

Our experienced and creative faculty work closely with an active and dedicated Board of Trustees and a committed and talented parent community. An established Core Faculty with years of Waldorf experience share a strong commitment to studying and working with Anthroposophy.

Job Description:
The role of the learning specialist is one that helps meld the mainstream understanding of educational support with the Waldorf understanding of child development both therapeutically and pedagogically. The learning specialist will design and implement a Student Action Plan, which will provide goals and accommodations tailored to an individual student’s needs. The Student Action Plan is designed to provide a plan both with the home and school to enable the student to thrive within an educational setting, and reach his/ her full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The learning specialist refers students, when required, for outsider evaluations, therapies and support. The learning specialist also conducts first grade readiness assessments, third grade class screenings, and actively supports teachers with classroom modifications, accommodations, materials, and trainings.

We have an italian baby sitter but we are looking for a english speaking aupair.
You will come to Italy to improve your italian skills and to become acquainted with our life and our culture. The average amount of work will be 20 hours per week (Supervising and playing with our children but also playing music if you like and assistance in light housework and for the dinner is required) .
You will be free to study Italian at a suitable college, and we will help you to arrange this.
We will be responsible for the costs of your maintenance during your stay with us as an au pair.

Au Pair in California - Immediate at in a home

Hello!
We are looking for an au pair for our son. He is currently 4 1/2 and attends a small Waldorf school in Northern California. He is bright, cheery, full of energy and happy. Hi school is a 60 – 65 minute drive from our house, though. So, during the school year, the au pair will drive him to and from school (in our car – a Volvo). While he is at school, the au pair can go to a cafe, the library, go hiking (there are many wonderful parks nearby, including the redwoods), volunteer (I believe there are volunteer opportunities in biodynamic farming at another nearby Waldorf school), meet friends, etc. This time while he is at school is considered “working” time, but, obviously, the au pair can do anythign in that time (it’s just that the distance is too far to go back home in between). Occasionally I may ask the au pair to do some grocery shopping for the family or something like that during that time.

After school, there are a few hours when the au pair will play with our son, maybe help with some dinner preparations, help with our son’s laundry.

When it’s not the school year, the au pair will schedule the day – playing with other children, going to parks, for hikes, playing soccer, etc. The au pair will also be responsible for the snacks and lunch (and sometimes dinner).

My husband and I…we are ordinary people, we think. Except that we have no tv, we eat real food that we cook, our son has never seen a movie or a video or a video game, our son’s toys are made of wood, wool, silk, etc. We both work in San Francisco, my husband is a political consultant and I am an attorney (I work only for nonprofit organizations).

Our house is in Mill Valley, CA – it’s about 25 minutes by car to San Francisco; near beaches and redwood parks.
