The Charlottesville Waldorf School is celebrating over 40 years of providing Waldorf education to the Charlottesville area. Our school serves children from 2 years old up to 8th grade, and also offers Parent-Child classes for children 18 months to 6 years old. Having recently shifted to a mixed aged learning model in our elementary and middle schools, we are invigorating our curriculum to fully integrate the pedagogy’s innate wisdom with the unique needs of the 21st century.

Overview: Grades Class Teachers are a fundamental element of the Charlottesville Waldorf School’s (CWS) mixed-aged learning model and are distinctive from the traditional practice of a class teacher receiving a class in 1st grade as the beginning of an 8-year journey with the class. At CWS, grades class teachers teach combined classes in the lower grades loop (2nd, 2/3, 3/4, and 4/5) and for the next 2 years, our Middle School classes will be stand alone 6, 7, and 8 as we review our mixed age program.
