Business Coordinator, Part-Time
Administrative staff members of The Waldorf School of St. Louis support the needs of the students, faculty, parents, and school volunteers. To understand those needs and to make decisions reflective of that understanding, administrators are asked to actively engage in the life of the school and to grow their knowledge of Waldorf education.
The Business Coordinator serves the school as an administrator of organizational finances, insurance, and employee benefits. They do this through their work with accounting and reporting, payroll administration, insurance policy renewal and submission of claims, employee benefit administration, their role in the enrollment and tuition assistance processes, and the annual prioritization and budgeting process, among other ways.
As a member of the Administrative Team, the Business Coordinator works with colleagues to provide coverage for the school office ensuring Faculty and Students are assisted as needed, phone calls are answered, and inquiries are appropriately directed. The Business Coordinator may perform other duties as required from time to time.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, and database applications
Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
3-5 years experience working with day-to-day financial operations of a similarly-sized, and resourced organization preferred, ideally an independent school
Empathy and discretion when working with families and colleagues on behalf of the school
Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately both verbally and in writing
Ability to uphold school policies and protocols and to maintain confidentiality when needed
Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance multiple, diverse projects simultaneously
A passion for education and experience with or interest in learning more about Waldorf Education, and Waldorf governance and finance practices
Ability and desire to work collaboratively with others and work in ways that embody WSSL’s values of diversity, collaboration, respect, spiritual connection, and striving
A desire to improve oneself through professional development opportunities
