EC Lead Afternoon Teacher
Cedarwood Waldorf School is seeking a qualified candidate to become our early childhood lead afternoon teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The hours are 10:30 am to 6:00 pm, Mondays through Fridays. Starting day will be the first week of April, 2022.
Known as a progressive urban school, Cedarwood is located in SW Portland, an area known for its natural beauty, abundance of outdoor recreational activities and thriving foodie culture. Our relationship with Portland Parks and Recreation has allowed us use of adjacent Lair Hill Park, the first pesticide-free park in Portland, for our movement classes and recess. Portland has a robust Waldorf community, with six schools, a Waldorf high school, many home pre-schools, anthroposophical doctors, therapeutic eurythmists and the Portland Branch of the Anthroposophical Society.
Our three pillars -- faculty, board and administration, and parent community -- have created a mature school organization and vibrant community. We have an effective peer mentoring program and strong support for all teachers.
Cedarwood Waldorf School is fully accredited by WECAN, AWSNA, and NWAIS and currently has 235 students enrolled from Early Childhood through Grade Eight. Our special subject offerings include Spanish, Japanese, Practical Arts, Movement, Eurythmy, and Music. Cedarwood Waldorf School offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
We are a certified childcare center, which requires all employees to be CPR and First Aid trained as well as any other required courses for childcare providers includes al least 15 hours annually of professional development.
