Waldorf Primary School Teachers
Garden House Waldorf School was found in September 2021, the birth was from Garden House Waldorf Kindergarten since 2008 (recognized by International Association Steiner/Waldorf Early Childhood Education IASWECE and a model Waldorf kindergarten by China Waldorf Early Childhood Forum).
When there were wishes from the community to form a Waldorf primary school early in 2021, after much considerations we have decided to build a wider community, preparation of the birth started then. Garden House Waldorf School aiming to serve students from 1st Grade to 7th Grade, with the first-year focus on the lower 1st to 3rd Grades and organically grow. Our vision is to cultivate integrated human being with imagination, truth and responsibility, reaching their heart and soul as well as the mind, to bring out the best of a whole child for the world. With love and devotion, we strive to nourish and awaken the unique capacities of each student – physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual - to help them meet the future with courage, initiative, compassion and resilience. With the combination curriculum of sciences, arts and crafts, we will help them acquaint feelings for beauty, clarities of thinking, strong motives from within, and other strengthened abilities to stand firmly in the world as lifelong learners.
Above all, we ourselves as teachers strive to match these same goals we set for our students.
In Garden House, you will have the opportunity to be part of a faculty where we look to learn from one another as well as trainers and speakers who travel to Hong Kong. This is how we shape the culture and processes to positively impact child development.
Garden House is located in the Kowloon Peninsula right by the seaside, we are privilege to be a neighbourhood in the country parks and Silverstrand Beach. You will have the opportunity to live in this exciting city of Hong Kong and yet in this peaceful and beautiful countryside filled with amazing natural surroundings which are famous for international hikers and travellers. “I love Garden House is because of its focus on the ‘Art of Work and Life’. Crafting, painting, and caring for the world around them is a daily experience for the children. I love to see them smiling, reacting to our stories, making bread and tidying up and cleaning our classroom. And I can see the parents love to see this as well. We all have such a good relationship because of this approach inside the classroom.
Garden House is not all about being inside. There is the ‘breathing out’ stage where we go outside and experience nature, the real world as well. The farm visits are my personal favourite and it’s such a pleasure to see the children growing and harvesting the vegetables. This helps give the children a true understanding of life which they will keep with them for the rest of their lives. So many of my parents of children who were in my class years ago still keep in touch and tell me of their happy memories.” Parent & Child class teacher - Miss Anna Wilson
“The moments I walk onto the premises, with the smell of freshly baked bread in the air, the teachers on motherly long skirts and aprons quietly walking the corridors, the busy humming behind the classroom doors, warm colours, wooden toys and natural materials lovingly arranged everywhere, I knew that this was the exact place where I wanted our boy to be looked after and make his first social experiences outside of the home. ………………We could not be happier; he loves every minute of it……………… The Waldorf path has been an integral part of our journey through like since. We found wonderful friends along the way, who we’ve been keeping in touch with over the years and across continents………. He is self- confident and independent, open minded and inquisitive. The foundations for his development were laid in Garden House, this has mostly certainly been preparing him well for life.” Astrid, mum (from Germany)
