We need classroom assistants in grades 1-3. We also need an assistant for a special needs student. Please indicate your main interest in these four openings. The positions begin on the first day of school on August 22.
The Sebastopol Independent Charter School (SICS) Response To Intervention Support Assistant (RTI Assistant) reports directly to the Student Support Services Director with whom s/he works and to the SICS Executive Director. The RTI Assistant educates students in an environment and manner that nurtures and guides them, with great consideration for the needs of each individual child and the class as a whole. The RTI Assistant shall work as much as possible from the indications of Waldorf philosophy and integrate Waldorf methods with other current best educational practices. The RTI Assistant will help the Class Teacher to meet the educational needs of students and provide appropriate instruction as prescribed by California State Standards. Working with individuals and smaller groups of students in order to ensure success is a primary goal of the RTI Assistant.
The hours are coordinated with the Student Support Services Director and approved by the executive director. S/he is expected to interact with children, parents, colleagues, and public safety personnel in a professional and diplomatic manner and always consider what is in the best interest of the children, individually and as a classroom and school community.
On some occasions and under the direction of the Student Support Services Director, an RTI Assistant may become an integral part of supporting a student with special needs under an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This may require the implementation of specific Positive Behavior Support Plans, inclusion practices, and/or participation in additional training specific to the student’s individual needs.
Please send your letter of interest, two recommendation letters (with references' contact information), and a resume to Jeff Lough, Student Support Services Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
