This announcement was sent to our community on Easter Morning:
In the spirit of renewal, in this glorious season of Spring, and on this holy day of Easter, we want to introduce to you Raphael Springs, the new name of our Private Membership Association. Raphael Springs will take up the torch and spirit of FFC and carry it further to our new property and into the future. FFC was created during unprecedented and troublesome times. We embarked on this journey with fire in our hearts and conviction in our souls. We were sustained by parents, teachers, and community members. With little experience in running schools, we miraculously created a space for our children to flourish, free of fear and restrictions. We are amazed and humbled by what we ALL achieved. Without a doubt we have made mistakes, and with the knowledge learned we courageously strive onward, toward a renewal of our original commitments to you, to one another, and to our children. Our experiences have provided us with the necessary mirror required for self-reflection, which will be instrumental for navigating our future together with you.
Defining our Structure: Raphael Springs will follow Rudolf Steiner’s profound indications to the co-founder of Waldorf Education, Emil Molt, and the original faculty members. With Rudolf Steiner’s Three-Fold Social Order as inspiration, Raphael Springs will operate in collaboration between the cultural, economic, and legal spheres, as symbolically represented by a golden chalice with a woven stem and the child standing in the center of the chalice. At Raphael Springs, the child is our sacred center. Everything we do stems from our commitment to the child’s educational, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. The golden cup of the chalice represents the Faculty. Rudolf Steiner tells us that, because of their commitment to work from an understanding of child development, the Faculty are best suited for the role of decision makers, and that they are the actual leaders of a Waldorf school. It is they who know and understand the children and their specific needs. The Faculty with the Parents form the sacred vessel, linked arm in arm, to provide the children with protection, social and educational guidance, and the loving authority that they must have to awaken as morally responsible human beings who are capable of finding their own direction in life. The Faculty, the Children, and the Parent Body make up the cultural sphere. The administration operates in the economic sphere, in cooperation with the Faculty, and is responsible for community outreach, enrollment, financial management, and bookkeeping. The legal sphere is in the care of the Private Membership Association. The economic and legal spheres are the sturdy intertwining stem that supports the golden cup of the chalice, the faculty. We understand that Raphael Springs fulfills something special, and we regard its founding as a ceremony held within Cosmic Order. We are sincere in our commitment to the study of Rudolf Steiner’s indications on child development, to individual self-development and Anthroposophy. We are honored by your family’s trust and love as we strive to guide our students in freedom toward wholeness and an excellence of education.
