Grades Teacher Assistant/Paid Training
Potomac Crescent Waldorf School is seeking a Grades Teacher Assistant for the 2022-2023 school year. The assistant will work closely with and be trained by an experienced grades teacher. With the class teacher's guidance, the assistant will lead the class and deliver curriculum outside of the main lesson. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain classroom experience and training, particularly for someone who is enrolled in Waldorf teacher training or is familiar with Waldorf education and considering a career in Waldorf education.
We are a vibrant Waldorf school in historic Old Town Alexandria. While we have been in Northern Virginia for over 20 years, we are moving into our newly renovated long-term location and are excited to start a new chapter in our school’s history. The parks in our neighborhood have a view of Washington, D.C., across the river.
Our grades teachers are a strong part of our faculty circle and participate in weekly full faculty meetings and grades meetings. We value pedagogical study and discussion in both groups. We support teacher mentoring and Waldorf conference and professional development opportunities as much as possible.
The ideal candidate will have strong social and communication skills and a love for children and teaching. We are seeking candidates who have a bachelor’s degree and who are engaged in Waldorf teacher training or are considering a career in Waldorf education. Familiarity with Waldorf education is highly valued.
