Job Description and Duties:
Honolulu Waldorf School is seeking a part-time music teacher who loves children, is passionate about music, and is committed to growing our music program, beginning with the 2022/2023 school year.
Responsibilities include teaching approximately 15 -20 hours per week, enthusiastically engaging students Grades 1 through 8, while working collaboratively with faculty and staff to create an educational environment that is aligned with our mission and program goals. Music is an integral part of the Waldorf curriculum. Classes are designed to support the overall student’s development and encourage a love of music.
Qualifications:
- has prior music teaching experience
- completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in music or related field
- demonstrates strong classroom management skills
- builds strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- communicates and collaborates effectively with others; works well in a team environment with a proven ability to work within a community environment
- works in collaboration with classroom teachers to integrate music into the curriculum
- Is eager to work with all children, regardless of ability
- is enthusiastic about teaching out of the philosophical and methodological principles of Waldorf education in an innovative and dynamic way that engages students
- preferred: understanding of Waldorf music pedagogy and/or Waldorf teaching experience

The Honolulu Waldorf School is an established coeducational, independent school serving 185 students from Early Childhood through Grade 9. The school is located on a beautiful 2-acre campus in Niu Valley shaded by majestic monkeypod trees. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum, with specialty classes including Handwork, Hawaiian Studies, Japanese, Spanish. Our campus is also home to a thriving Early Childhood program, and we have a giant tortoise, chickens, ducks, and gardens, which our students help care for.
